Team Updates
Parliamentary:
Parli is getting ready for the NYPDL October Invitational tournament this weekend! We will have a novice meeting on Wednesday and some final practice rounds on Friday before giving it our all in person at Townsend Harris. We look forward to the novices debating at their first-ever Parli tournament!
Public Forum:
Public Forum is super excited to compete at Big Bronx this coming weekend! Last week our Novice Directors welcomed this year’s PF novices to the team at our first novice meeting. Our Junior Varsity and Varsity have been focused on practice rounds for Bronx and have begun preparing for the new November topic: The US Federal Government should forgive all student loan debt.
Policy:
This week Policy officially began novice training after a few weeks of introductory meetings. As our novices learned about cards and cases, our JV and Varsity team ran rebuttal redo practices! Rebuttal redos were a great way for us to reflect on our Yale rounds and identify the ideal closing speeches we could have given. Now we have shifted focus to Big Bronx, which is next weekend!
Lincoln Douglas:
LD this week is getting ready for the New York City Invitational at Bronx Science this week and the first novice tournament on 10/21! We are so excited to work with this year's cohort of both new and returning members. Best of luck to our varsity team this weekend and our novices next weekend!
Congress:
Stuy Congress is gearing up for Big Bronx, our first tournament of the season! We are excited to witness some of our JV debaters’ first times on the National Circuit. Our novices are also getting ready to attend their first-ever local in just two weeks!
Speech:
Speech is preparing for the NYC Invitational this weekend and the first local tournament for novices on the 21st! It has been a real joy to see new leadership in Speech take the reins, and new novices jump into the fray. We’ve been practicing hard and training our novices diligently - look forward to our performance at both tournaments!
Extemp:
With Big Bronx ahead, the varsity extempers (new and returning) are training hard every week. In the meantime, the novice labs are up and running! We expect to have the whole extemp team ready for the next local tournament on 10/21. Wish us luck this weekend!
