Team Updates
Parliamentary:
Parli competed at the NYPDL October In-Person invitational this weekend! Novice team Alexander Georgatos and Paul David Stipp made it to semifinals at their first tournament ever! The whole team had a blast at the tournament. We will all practice more as we look ahead to our next tournament at the end of the month.
Public Forum:
Public Forum had such a blast at Big Bronx this weekend! Congrats to sophomores Jasmine Liang, Solomon Binaminyov, Jolie Yeung, and Annie Li for crushing it at their first varsity competition! Senior Amrisha Roy placed 23rd speaker as well. Looking ahead, PF has begun preparations for the new November topic and our novices are beyond excited for their first competition soon!
Policy:
Policy debate headed to the Bronx this weekend to compete in the New York City Invitational. The tournament was a learning experience for everyone, as new varsity debaters and JV debaters faced the heightened level of argumentation in the varsity pool. Everyone had a great time at the tournament, and teams will use their results from Yale and the NYC Invitational to develop their arguments going forward. Our novices continue to learn about the structure of debates and will be competing in practice debates soon!
Lincoln Douglas:
LD Competed at the New York City this weekend! We all gained a lot of experience and had tons of fun. We are all looking forward to having our novices compete at their first ever tournament, the NYCFL this weekend!
Congress:
Stuy Congress had a great time at Big Bronx this past weekend! Though competition was tough, our Varsity and JV members had a great time jumping into the first tournament of the season. We are getting ready to return to Bronx Science this weekend, along with our novices, for the first local of the season!
Speech:
Speech this week competed at the Big Bronx NYC Invitational! Senior Erica Liu placed eighth in Program Oral Interpretation and ninth in Prose and Poetry - semi finalist in both. Look forward to next week’s local tournament, where we will be introducing our novices to their first competition!
Extemp:
STUY GOT AN EXTEMP CHAMPION THIS WEEKEND! Eshaal Ubaid (Captain) took home the first place trophy from NYC Invitational, with two other extempers, Aleksey Olkhovenko and Kai Xuan Li, breaking to semifinals. Shoutout to Kai, who was ONE away from making finals! Our other competitors (Justin Ha, Myles Vuong, and JV Director Unique Zhang) all ranked in the very top half of prelims. We are so proud of everybody this weekend and hope to keep the momentum going with the novices at next weekend’s CFL!
