Team Updates
Extemp:
Our NCFL Grand National competitors are filling up their practice quotas in preparation for this weekend – good luck to Eshaal, Kai, and Aleksey! The rest of extemp is carrying on with weekly geopolitics lessons and bonding activities to stay sharp for next season.
Congress:
As Stuy Congress season nears its end, we are organizing a team dinner to wrap up this past year and look forward to the next. The team will continue to have meetings to refine our skills in preparation for next season, and we wish the best of luck to junior William Tang at Grands!
Lincoln Douglas:
StuyLD has been busy preparing for Grands! Daniel and Henry have been at work cutting cases and evidence. Meanwhile, the novices have been learning more about progressive debate and are finalizing their summer plans. Best of luck at Grand CFLs!
Parliamentary:
This weekend, Parli sent three teams to NYPDL Championships! Stuy AB(Abel Bellows and Zeke Abramowicz) made it to Novice Semi-finals, Stuy BT (Henry Bansbach and Adrian Turkedjiev) made it to Varsity Semi-finals and Stuy RT (Hannah Riegel and Molly Thompson) won 2nd! We also had multiple speakers win awards: Henry was 8th place varsity speaker, Hannah 5th, Adrian 3rd, and Molly 2nd. This tournament served as an excellent conclusion to an exceptional year of Parliamentary debate!
Policy:
Policy has been in full swing in preparation for NCFLS. We are sending three teams: Vanessa and Salioudian, August and Jonathan, and Kassandra and Rahul. We have been researching, preparing our affirmatives, and doing practice debates with our coach, Emmanuel. Our JV debaters have also continued to do presentations for the novices, with Atiya giving a wonderful presentation on how to answer Kritik Affirmatives! Wish us luck at CFLs!
Public Forum:
The Public Forum team is incredibly hyped for Nationals this week! Our qualifiers Kikyo Makino-Siller, Amrisha Roy, Annie Li, Erica Lung, Helen Mancini, and Astrid Harrington have been hard at work with research and casewriting for the new topic: The benefits of AI in education outweigh the harms. Wish us luck!
Speech:
Speech this week has been preparing intensely for the Catholic Forensics League (CFL) national tournament this upcoming weekend. Team members (Emily, Eli, Will, Audrey, Melia, and Erica) have had practice sessions with coaches and worked with their lab leaders to prepare for this tournament. From daily work sessions with upperclassmen and practice at home, Stuy Speech is ready to perform on the national stage. Wish us luck!
