Speech team at States last weekend!

Team Updates

Extemp:

In light of APs, extemp has been taking a fun dive into other types of speech, such as Humorous Interpretation (shoutout to Isaac Ho for sharing a piece with us) and current events-related games (shoutout to Unique Zhang for devising current events charades), while our future CFL (Grand) Nationals and NSDA National competitors (Aleksey Olkhovenko, Eshaal Ubaid, Justin Ha, and Kai Li) are working hard to get practice speeches in and practice the newly-released round topics. We're so proud of everybody's growth this season and are looking forward to learning about the news and politics even after states!

Congress:

With the season at its end, and with AP tests this month, Stuy Congress has taken a bit of a breather this week. We are so proud of our Congress family for the ways they’ve learned and grown this past year, and we can’t wait for what next year may bring!

Lincoln Douglas:

This week LD is preparing to go to Catholic Nationals! Daniel and Henry are busy doing preparation for the topic, "Resolved: In the United States, public K-12 schools ought to eliminate academic tracking." In the meantime, the novices have been busy learning about progressive debate and drilling important skills for the circuit next year. We're all excited the end the season on a happy note and can't wait for next year!

Parliamentary:

Parli is excited to have had 4 debaters (most likely even more with wildcard entries) qualify for NYPDL Championships, which will take place from May 20-21! This week, we’ve been continuing to improve through practice rounds, and are looking forward to finishing the season strong after APs are over.

Policy:

Policy had a great week! While most of us were busy with AP exams, we decided to set up weekend zooms to prep for Catholic Nationals. Next week we will be doing more practice debates!

Public Forum:

PF debriefed on their rounds at the State Championships last weekend to further improve their skills. After wrapping up the April topic, debaters have now switched their focus to preparing for the Catholic Nationals that will take place in four weeks.

Speech:

This week, Speech enjoyed the glow from States! In addition to that, all of our Nationals competitors are gearing up for a final end-of-season push. Look forward to CFLs as our competitors are looking ahead and preparing for next year!
